Dear colleagues,

My name is Saïd El Khadraoui, Belgian MEP, affiliate of the PES, and member of the Committee on Transport and Tourism.

In an attempt to discover the ideal social Europe, I am releasing 'Eurotrip': an ambitious project in which we are sending two eager youngsters on a journey through Europe.

During their 'Grand Tour', the duo will meet noteworthy local politicians giving them a tour of their region and providing an exclusive, behind-the-scenes look at the European Union. The goal of the journey is to discover successful local initiatives that could be interesting to implement on a European-wide level. Eurotrip would be an excellent opportunity to examine the potential of these projects. At the same time this would be an exceptional chance to promote our socialist accomplishments and enhance the dialogue with local socialists.

On the other hand, Eurotrip provides the possibility of grasping the opinion and viewpoint of our youth regarding the general role of the European Union. This expedition is a valuable occasion for the pair to express the voice of a younger generation: with an uninhibited look, our envoy would help in determining which plans or policies should be debated on a European-wide level.

During their trip, the thoughts and opinions of our youthful representatives will be continuously published in an online blog that will be completed with full-coverage videos of the trip.

However, in order to complete this ambitious project, we would greatly appreciate your help. Would you be willing to guide the pair through your region in order to discover successful local projects? In addition, would you be able to accommodate the youngsters and their supervisors? Obviously, this would only be for one or two days at most.

Eurotrip is a chance for MEP's to introduce their region to the Belgian public. Moreover, the trip provides an opportunity to promote local projects that could prove to be interesting for consideration on a European level.

If it is not possible for you to personally help us, we kindly ask the details of useful local contacts in your home country in order to help organize an interesting and fruitful journey through your region. It will be greatly appreciated!

Project Specifics:
• Participants: The winners of the contest and two supervisors. The latter will be responsible for the videos and reports of the trip.

• When: 15/09/2008-30/09/2008
• Where: The goal is to cross the borders of 10 EU member states
• Stay: When possible, local accommodations are appreciated
• Media: Progress of the trip will be continually published online. The possibility of a media partner is being considered to add to the prominence of the project.
